Firecracker Triple Weekend Racing Recap

The 4th of July Super Truck Shootout was nothing less than exciting!  The teams worked together to complete 3 full days of racing! The July 4th weekend started at Altus Speedway with the Super Truck Invitational. The invitational brought the Top 10 trucks in the standings to the track to compete in a 20-lap winner-take-all event!  At the end, Brad Sams brought his #55 truck to the finish line first with Fireworks and 9 other trucks chasing him.

To keep up the streak, Saturday night racing brought 17 trucks to the ¼ mile asphalt.  The race was mostly accident free with one caution at 4 laps to go that saw the 14 of Burney Gibson blow a radiator hose which resulted in the wall collecting Gibson, and the trucks of Robby Ybarra (#44), Nocole Torrez(#06), and Scott Deimel(#19). Due to the extensive clean-up, the race was ruled complete by USST officials and the 55 of Brad Sams took home the win followed by the 12 of Kevin Jones, 83 of Brandon Lollis.

The teams took a rest for the night and then traveled to Red River Speedway on Sunday for a 3rd night of racing.  The racing action at Red River Speedway got faster and tighter! The teams took to the track for qualifying and the repaired #14 of Burney Gibson took the pole position.  At the line-up, a dice was rolled for potential invert. Bernie's' luck was not good as the entire field was inverted putting Burney Gibson at the back of the pack!  Exciting race action ensued with the last 30 laps consisted of a high speed chase with the 41 of Josh Cournoyer on the tail of the 7 of Eric Caudell.  Caudell survived numerous restarts from cautions and brought home the checkered flag in front of the 31 of Brandon Pinson.  The teams will rapidly return to Red River Speedway on July 19th.
